Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a sports physical every year?
Yes. UIL and most Texas school districts require a new pre-participation physical exam before each school year, and combat sports licensing through TDLR also requires a current exam. Annual exams catch changes in growth, blood pressure, and injury history.
Can a sports physical replace my annual wellness visit?
No. A sports physical focuses on safe athletic participation. Your annual physical is broader — screening labs, immunizations, mental health, and preventive care. Many families schedule both together at our Denton clinic to save a trip.
How long does the appointment take?
Most sports physicals take about 20–30 minutes, including paperwork. Combat sports exams may take slightly longer if additional TDLR documentation is required.
Do you offer same-day appointments?
Yes. We offer same-day and walk-in sports physicals for athletes from Denton, Lewisville, Corinth, Highland Village, Argyle, Aubrey, Sanger, and Krum — especially helpful during preseason registration weeks.
What if additional testing is needed?
If we find a heart murmur, elevated blood pressure, or an unresolved injury, we may order an EKG, labs, imaging, or a cardiology referral before granting clearance. We coordinate that follow-up quickly so your athlete isn’t sidelined longer than necessary.
Can coaches, schools, or gyms send athletes as a group?
Absolutely. We work with North Texas schools, clubs, and combat sports gyms to schedule blocks of physicals. Call (940) 383-8300 to arrange group scheduling.
